I am entering my 4th year in Cannon Falls having accepted a call to this church in October 2008. What a lovely town and a loving congregation!
My husband Paul and I lived in Beaverton, Oregon for several years before I attended seminary at Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, California graduating May of 2008. I was ordained at my home church in Hillsboro on October 5, 2008.
My son, Alex, graduated from Jacob’s School of Music at Indiana University, Bloomington, in 2010 and is now attending graduate school at San Francisco Conservatory of Music majoring in the Timpani. As empty-nesters, Paul and I enjoy our Cavalier King Charles dog, ‘Grace,’ and a moderately-domestic cat, ‘Dinah,’ walking, biking, and reading. I enjoy crafting of all sorts, most recently quilting.
I never dreamed of becoming a pastor, but God works in mysterious ways! I grew up in the United Church of Christ in Billings, Montana. I love this denomination for its inclusiveness, its justice-oriented mission focus, and its fascinating history.
After an absence from church-going during my young adulthood, I was worried that I would have to believe in certain things or doctrine before I could attend. I was wondering if God would still have me. I found the United Church of Christ is accepting and relevant because I am encouraged to search for a new way to live, to question, and to learn. I found a church who needed me as much as I needed them. I also found a church that was spiritually enriching as well as mentally engaging.
Now I know that God led me to this vocation and to this place to help me find what I was seeking. I just had to listen to that ‘still small voice’ and follow. I welcome you to come visit sometime and see if we can offer what you are seeking.
