Scheduled for Sunday, October 27th, 10:45 a.m., 220 West Main Street, this event will help to raise money for the Feed My Starving Children packing event in Cannon Falls slated for November.

Church members will bring crockpots of chili and pans of cornbread for the event. They will be set up with labels (but no names!) for everyone to sample and enjoy. Each crockpot and cornbread pan will have baskets for people to “vote” for their favorites with donations to Feed My Starving Children. The winners will be the folks who have generated the most cash. The prize? Bragging rights for having the best chili or cornbread in Cannon Falls!

Singer and songwriter Brother Timothy (Timothy Frantzich) along with his lovely family, his wife Carrie and their two daughters, Esther and Svea, delighted a crowd of music lovers at the First Congregational Church on Sunday, August 11th wit
h their beautiful renditions of songs from Neil Young to John Prine. The Frantzich family artfully blended familiar folksy songs with original music and poetry for an evening that combined uplifting messages with gentle humor and personal stories. By the end, the audience was singing along with old hymns and newer music, providing a unique musical experience that we hope can be repeated.

Proceeds after expenses went to the Good Samaritan Fund which is held by the Cannon Falls Church Interaction Council (CCIC) and used to provide immediate assistance to local families in need

On Tuesday, August 6th the First Congregational Church hosted it’s second annual National Night Out celebration by welcoming the community to the church grounds for Root Beer Floats.  The Cannon Falls Police Department stopped by and chatted with folks who came out to enjoy the nice weather and good company.

National Night Out is a community-police awareness-raising event in the United States, held the first Tuesday of August

A free will donation of $10-20 is suggested to meet expenses for this Good Sam Jam and benefit the CCIC (Community Churches Interaction Council) Good

Samaritan Fund, supporting Cannon Falls residents in need of emergency funds to meet expenses beyond their immediate abilities.

Three local pastors, Cindy and Nick Fisher-Broin, from Spring Garden Lutheran Church, and Drew Yackel, from Urland Lutheran Church, invite you to join them for an afternoon of Hymns on Tap. These sing-alongs have brought out good crowds and great voices before. Join them for a fun afternoon with neighbors and friends.

Come one come all, hear from the youth that went to Parma, OH on their mission trip, June 16-22. They will be giving the sermon on Sunday July 7th. At the First Congregational Church of Cannon Falls MN. The church service starts at 9:30am

It is Saturday, June 22. WOW…… Where did the week go. It seems that it was just yesterday that we were packing up the vehicles to leave on our mission trip. Well a week has gone by and all our projects are completed. We packed up, checked out, and prayed for safe travels by 8 am. We drove about 4 hours to the next stop just north of Howe, IN, where we got gas and switched vehicles. Joe’s vehicle occupants went to see Ella in Green Bay, WI, where she is working as summer staff next week (June 23-29). They got into Green Bay, WI. about 8:40 pm. The rest of us went on to Cannon Falls, in the RV. We got into Cannon Falls, MN. about 9:30 pm.
When I spoke with the youth and adults that went on our trip, they said that they loved it and would go again. Next year we are looking at going to Sheboygan, WI, which is June 21- 27. The one thing I can say is, I’m glad I went as a Red Shirt this year, but I did miss being with our Youth during their youth group devotions and hearing what they had to say. So the next time I might go to two camps; one as a Red Shirt, and a second camp as a camper with the youth.
Just a few facts on how we, the participants at this camp, impacted the community:
* There were 197 campers, from 13 different churches and 9 states
* There were 33 different work crews
* There were 25 different work sites (projects)
* All 25 work site projects were completed
* We worked 5,910 total hours during the week
* There were 425 items donated to the community food shelf, including cash donations.

Thank you to all our home church members who contributed to the food shelf and our camp scholarships.

Also just a reminder to come to church on July 7th. The Youth will be giving the Sermon that Sunday. They will be telling of their experience from camp.
